MAGAZINE WATCH: Lupe Fiasco graces the cover of XXL Magazine

Lupe’s no choir boy, but he does cover the May 2011 edition of XXL. Below he gives another reaction toLasers debuting at number one on Billboard. Issue hits newsstands April 26th.

I wasn’t completely overwhelmed, because now I have to go into the business meetings,” he said. “Now I’m waiting for, ‘If you didn’t say you hated the album in that interview, we would have done 300,000.’”

Also in this issue, Grammy-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco also boasts about his lyrical skills and why he deserves to be considered one of the best emcees ever.
Fiasco admitted that he made a more [pop-sounding] album than he would have liked with Lasers and isn't proud of the artistic compromises he had to make. While he might not feel comfortable making pop music, Lupe is confident with his skills on the mic; even going as far as calling himself one of the best lyrical MCs in the game at the moment. "I can actually make the argument, seriously, that, Yo, I'm better than all y'all," he boasted. "You have people who can say that. Jay-Z can say that. Eminem can say that. Canibus can say that--if we are going line for line. If you want to relate me to the newer cats, let's go. Let's go line for line and bar for bar. If it's all about spitting and metaphors and MCing and lyrics and entendres, I will eat 99 percent of you dudes up." (XXL Mag). Chicago is definitely proud of you fam, although you may have had to compromise some to get L.A.S.E.R.S to your fans, we at BLVDAVE Salute you none the less !!!!

In Case you missed it:: LeBron James makes animated series from his popular commercials "The LeBrons"

NBA star LeBron James has a new cartoon called The LeBrons, which has made its debut on the world wide web a couple days ago, and is sponsored by HP and Intel, as Google points out. I also saw a Bing commercial in there.

“Born from a Nike campaign that was very popular on YouTube, The LeBrons features four versions of James: Kid, Athlete, Business and Wise,” explains YouTube sports manager Andrew Bangs. “The show is intended for young audiences but has references and scenes for basketball and music fans, too.”

So in case you missed it, BLVDAVE got you covered !!! Below you will find the first 2 episodes of "the LeBrons" , and a youtube compliation of scenes from the popular "LeBrons" commercials. Maybe this cartoon will bring LeBron back into his former "Glory days" before he took his talents to SOUTH BEACH !!! Enjoy !!

FRESHNESS: Air Jordan XI IE Low

Its back !!!! Props to Kicks-Lab once again for the info. Although when these originally dropped back in the day I couldnt stand em, since then I have had a change of HEART !!! Its lowcut, heavily ventilated in-season sequel of a design can be seen to foreshadow modern basketball performance models like the Hyperfuse, LeBron 8 V2 and Zoom Kobe VI, which goes to prove that the Air Jordan XI IE Low was truly ahead of its time when it released in the summer of 1996. This original black and Red colorway has aged well, with the only notable change for this new release a smokey translucent sole that should serve to prevent any yellowing as you show these some love in your sneaker rotation over the next fifteen years. Check out the limited size run currently available from Kicks-Lab.

Definitely a must have during the hot summer days, ladies & gents if you're trying to be FRESH !! Plus THEY'RE JORDANS, you can never go wrong with Jordans baby !!!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: kING kUN

Continuing our appreciation and admiration for aspiring and signed talent, has lead us to this post on an artist by the name of King Kun. He hit us up with links and music, we checked it out, and we are definitely feeling this cats music. In this weeks artist spotlight you will find out just who King Kun is, and as with all of our Artist Spotlight blogs, we have provided all of his contact info so you can see for youselves 1st hand about King Kun and his From The Ground Up Movement !!!

King Kun, born Dejuan Davis to a single mother "Laverne Davis," grew up in 1 of Atlanta's most notorious neighborhoods called "The Bluff" located in Vine City on Atlanta's westside. This neighborhood is known for it's drugs, prostitution, and crime. Growing up in that enviroment, you would either end up dead, or in prison. KING decided to follow his passion. Being born into a musical family, naturally gave him his love for music, which he calls" his love affair." Ever since he was 12 years old, he followed the footsteps of his musical uncle (aspiring pianist), another who plays the guitar, and a close family friend who plays the saxophone. When Kun bought his first drum machine, he began producing music for a group he formed called "THE HAVEKNOTZ". Kun and the HaveKnotz performed in MC battles and Showcases all around Atlanta. Known as a triple threat in the industry as a Producer, Songwriter, and Artist. Kun often compares himself to being a classical composer of Hip Hop Music. A unique person that makes unique music. Today King Kun is recognized as one of Atlanta's hottest Artist and Super Producers, most important a True Lyricist. King Kun is going to be the name of the nation sooner than you think. Kun uses a famous quote by "James Dean" which inspires him every day. "Dream as if you'll live forever, Live as if you'll die today." He lives by that quote to keep accomplishing his Dreams. Everything Kun has been through; he's kept fighting no matter what. King Kun is who he is today, because of his strong belief in GOD, and the passion for his love, which is music. The only thing Kun has to say is "Watch me keep climbing, and I'll see you at the top..... Or From It!!!"
