stfuMikeP on the AVE: New Looks at the "Medusa" Nike SB Dunk Low

Mike P here. Tonight I have some new pictures of what I think to be a beautiful looking dunk dropping SPRING/SUMMER 2012.

What has been dubbed as the "Medusa" Dunk has a real solid pebbled leather encapsulating the entire sneaker (said to represent the stone that people would turn into upon looking at her directly in the eyes) with the green leather swoosh and heel tab (representing the snakes as her hair) and a red NIKE stitching.

All in all, I love this sneaker.  Nike SB has, at times, really been stepping up their game recently with the colorways.  This will be a sneaker to go with any fit - that grey is perfect.

Be sure that Belmont Army and Uprise will get these in the spring...release date info coming later.

As always, follow me on twitter and check out the tumblr.

Sneaks on the AVE: Christian Hosoi x Vans Core Sk8-Hi

Should skateboarding historians count Christian Hosoi among the skaters whose footwear preferences were strongly influenced by Air Jordans?  If you were to look over Hosoi's collaborations with Vans on the Legends Pack, you'd see him rely on black and red and/or black and royal blue colorways, both of which were prominently featured on the original Air Jordan 1 he's depicted wearing in countless classic photos.  All of this MJ-infusion in the past is what makes Hosoi's Vans  SK8-His so unique despite their simple designs.  Navy/white and tonal black getups seem far enough out of the Christ Air originator's expected range that they're a nice surprise for the holiday season, and you'll find them soon at select Off the Wall retailers.

Sneaks on the AVE: Nike Air Pegasus ’92 – Upcoming Colorways

Earlier this morning, Sneaker News showed you how Nike Sportswear is bringing together over a decade and a half of Tailwind series runners for their new hybrid design, but here's one that remains unchanged a full twenty years after its debut.  The latest round of Nike Air Pegasus '92s has a slightly anachronistic vibe about it not because two of the four pairs bear the colors of classic Air Mowabb ACG releases from around the same time, but because back in the day, the Swoosh didn't typically spread these colorways across different silhouettes like pretty much every brand does in modern times with 'pack' releases.  With that in mind, maybe this is just the 'fire pack', because each pair including the two tonal grey leather joints, all have that look that'll have classic running fans making these hard to find.  Check out some more images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News & BlvdAve for the US release dates.

Sneaks on the AVE: Run-DMC x adidas Originals Superstar ’80s ‘My adidas’ out now !

If there was ever a time you desiered to walk through concert doors or roam all over coliseum floors, it very well might be now.  No, there's not another Live Aid/8 benefit concert coming up to commemorate the fifth birthday of the last one, but instead an anniversary for one of the first explicit instances of overlap between hip-hop culture and major sneaker brands.  The Run-DMC x adidas Originals Superstar 80s 'My adidas' 25th Anniversary edition commemorates five x five years since the song that gave a name to Three Stripes online customization service first hit radio airwaves.  These are unique for their use of custom embroidery on the rear as well as a dookie rope dubrae; are they the greatest shelltoe release of the last quarter-century?  Check out the images below and these dropped in stores this past Friday, November 11th. Truly a fittingly timed release for one of the rap game's oldest veteran groups.

Sneaks on the AVE: Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Dark Knight’ Now Available

In today's ultra-concentrated news cycle, if you don't hear about a model for more than a few weeks (days, even), it's easy to be so bombarded by the ever-expanding array of new and upcoming releases that you might lose track of all but the very most significant releases. And especially when you compare the profile of its release to the Zoom Kobe V that preceeded it, one could certainly conclude by this point in history that sneakerheads are collectively sleeping on the Nike Zoom Kobe VI 'Dark Knight'. Whereas the ZKV edition was an early House of Hoops-exclusive that helped to garner attention for that model in its early days, the Christopher Nolan's Batman-inspired ZK6 comes nearly two years later during a time we couldn't possibly see them on an NBA court. Add in that the Zoom Kobe VII is right around the corner, and we've got all the makings of a release people are going to be happy they remembered while others got left behind. Check these out in some additional images after the jump and pick them up before everyone else finds out they're available right now on NikeStore.

Sneaks on the Ave: Supra Reed Pack

Recent drops suggested Supra was moving toward celebrating their riders with new release packs instead of the color themes that dominated the summer months, but here's a new trio from the crown brand that suggests either option is just a release announcement away.  The Supra Reed Pack doesn't seem to be a shoutout to the woodwind family of instruments, but then again, it doesn't really resemble papyrus or any other reed, for that matter.  But just as was the case with the recent 'Stealth Pack', this thematic vagueness doesn't detract from the rich burgundy satin TUF design applied to the Supra Skytop and Thunders in both Low and High.  Look at them more closely after the jump and look for them at your local Supra dealer.

Sneaks on the AVE: Nike Basketball Holiday 2011 PE Pack

As we approach the end of October, NBA Basketball, despite still being a big question mark, is still on our minds. The recent South Florida All-Star Classic reminded us why NBA basketball is the most exciting professional sport to watch, and even the super-realistic NBA 2K12 video game has given us more reason that the 2011-12 NBA Season is worth the wait. Need even more of an NBA fix? Nike Las Vegas just dropped a whole set of Nike Basketball PEs, like the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 for Russell Westbrook, the Nike Air Max Sweep Thru for Amare Stoudemire, and the for Chris Bosh. Check out all of what's available right now and check with your NikeTown soon for availability.

Sneaks on the Ave: Nike Air Jordan XII Cool Grey/Orange/White

Air Jordan XII
Cool Grey/Team Orange-White

05/2012
$160
Props to SneakerNews !!! Over the weekend they gave you a look at the Air Jordan XII 'Cool Grey', which is currently set for a May 2012 release. Here we have a new angle of the upcoming release, which reveals a Team Orange detail on the 'Jumpman' badge located on the upper by the midfoot. The 'Cool Grey' upper appears to be constructed of nubuck, similar to the 'Flu Game' release. The combination of Grey/White/Orange is very much a Charlotte Bobcats colorway, seen on PEs worn by Gerald Wallace and DJ Augustin. Are these one of the best non-OG colorways ever? Check out the extra shot below and let us know where these rank among all releases of all-time.

$170

Last year's Miami inspired colorways for the Nike LeBron 8 like the 'South Beach' and 'Miami Nights' were the clear kings of the hill for must haves, so will King James' latest signature shoe have a similar fate? With the Nike LeBron 9 finally starting to pop up on a slew of exciting colorways, this pair fuses the standard Miami Heat colors with a bit more sinister inspiration; the iconic imagery of the classic gangster film Scarface.

The stark combo of black and white mixes in swaths of red that make the inspiration clear. Let us know how these line up against the other 's we've seen so far and stay tuned for more info on the 'Scarfaces'.

Sneaks on the Ave: Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro

Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro
Noble Green/Metallic Gold-Dark Oak

If we've learned anything from Nike's Fall/Winter 2011 collection, it's that the brand is dead set on extending the aesthetics of outerwear well beyond the Nike ACG range. From beefed up Duckboot Air Force 1's to Sky Force '88s sporting d-ring lacing, it is abundantly clear that every division of the Swoosh will have the proper footwear for the coming months. The iteration for Nike SB is the Nike SB Dunk Mid 'Patagonia' that we've been patiently waiting for, which sports a mixture of earthy tones paired with metal eyelets and the classic hunter red laces. We've got some high quality pics after the jump to tide you over until their rumored December release, courtesy of aggi on N-SB.

Sneaks on the Ave: Jordan Melo M8 'Home' and 'Away' Colors

The initial Jordan Melo M8 released to retail was a Chicago Bulls 'home' colorway released at an English Jordan Brand distributor.  Much closer to home for Carmelo Anthony is news that his eighth JB signature will soon be available at US stores in a palette that's been gaining some attention another Jumpman model of late.  This Knicks 'away' getup goes with a roughly 1:1 mix of black and royal with just a hint of orange plus white on the outsole and sockliner.  They have a more balanced feel than the all-blue Spiz'ikes but both are sufficiently dope that New York basketball fans will be going broke between all the sick releases and ever increasing ticket prices.  Will you be among the masses picking up the Knicks away Melo M8s when they hit at FinishLine  Wednesday, October 12th?

Sneaks on the Ave: Nike SB Blazer Highs - Rift Blue/Classic Chracoal/White

White-on-black Nike SB Blazer Highs and Blazer CS SBs have been available 'all day/every day' at Nike SB retailers for some time, so along with the black/Team Red and 'A Tribe Called Quest' joints that just hit retailers, black suede has figured quite prominently in the SB Blazer's recent plans. A pair of suede Blazers is one of those impeccable looks that deserves to be reproduced across the entire visible spectrum, and when you pair the lovely Rift Blue shade on this pair with grey nubuck for a range of crisp blues plus white on the vulc sole, you get one of the 'coolest' winter designs we've seen so far for the coming stretch of extended cold weather. Click through to see more angles after the jump and expect this pair at retailers next month.
