fRESHNESS: Air Jordan 3 ‘True Blue’

Three of the four original Air Jordan III colorways have/will see retro releases this year,
and with the Fire Reds out of the picture (at least for now),
‘White Cements’ having already dropped and
‘Black Cements’ on tap for the holiday season, any true Jordanhead could tell you which one’s left.

Check out these new photos of the 2011 Air Jordan 3 ‘True Blue’,
a model that’s picture perfect when compared to the OGs and should satisfy some of the frustrated fans who couldn’t get their hands on a pair when they dropped in ’09.

The question with a model of this legendary stature is often ‘How many,’
rather than ‘If’, but with all the aforementioned pairs plus the recent BHM and upcoming Stealth joints, which ones will you pick?

hOT OR nOT ??? Taylor Steele’s Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke

Taylor Steele’s Poor Specimen production company has created over twenty movies, music videos and TV shows, most of which revolve around his love of surfing. He’s not Jack Johnson or anything, but from the looks of Steele’s Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke, we’d have to assume he also has a thing for Gibson guitar(s) (cases). At least, that’s what looking at his 1of1 AF1s would remind most sneakerheads, their oiled brown leather uppers and two toned gum sole bearing a striking resemblance to 2008′s Dunk Low Premium SB ‘Gibson’. That combination is impeccable but Steele went a bit further, applying a custom swirly graphic (inspired by a ripcurl, perhaps?) on the lateral heel, dubrae and hangtag, with a red sockliner and tongue finishing things off with an aggressive punch. Click through to get a better look and be sure to let us know how these rank against the other AF1 Bespokes we’ve profiled here on Sneaker News. via Surfbang

Hot or Not ??? Air Jordan II Max

Jordan hybrids always stir up heated debate, but when considering the long-term of Jordan Brand’s relevance to the sneaker game, the Legacy needs to be reinvented in one way or another.

Replacing Air Jordans 1 through XIV is an impossible task and re-issuing every Air Jordan colorway will soon exhaust itself, so there must be methods to rejuvenate the line without compromising the original beauty and design.

One way to do that is by modernizing its classic designs by infusing the latest in Nike technology, and the Air Jordan II Max does just that as it pairs the Air Jordan II with a full-length Max Air unit.

Even the original Air Jordans were not widely receive, but with an open mind, hybrids like the Air Jordan II Max will not only become ‘acceptable’, but desirable.

So take another good look at the Air Jordan II Max and let us know what you think.

HOT OR NOT ???

Gucci Mane Covers The Source

Gucci Mane shows his grill for the cover of The Source’s annual Green Issue. The feature is written by moi and hits newsstands March 22nd. Below is an excerpt of La Flare on making the Forbes list last year.

Source: You don’t make Forbes by being stupid. Do you feel like people doubt your intelligence?
Gucci: Yeah. The critics and bloggers ridicule and scrutinize [but] it fuels my fire. I can’t say I want to enjoy all the spoils of the game without being criticized. I actually welcome it as a part of success. I don’t want everybody to like me. So many people feel like I don’t deserve the things I got. I know I worked so hard for ‘em, so [criticism] makes me work even harder.

Here's the vid for Gucci's track titled "24" off his new mixtape "The Return of Mr. Zone 6" out March 22nd !!!

R.I.P : Nate Dogg Passes Away at 41 Years Old

One of Hip Hop's most iconic voices Nate Dogg passed away last night at the age of 41.

Hip Hop suffered another loss late last night, as Long Beach, California news site PressTelegram.com reports that Nathaniel "Nate Dogg" Hale has died at the age of 41.

Although no official cause of death has been announced, the former Death Row alum suffered from two strokes, his most recent one in September 2008.

A number of artists have confirmed Nate's passing via Twitter, including long-time friend and frequent collaborator Snoop Dogg.

Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Nate Dogg first began singing in Long Beach's New Hope Baptist Church in Long Beach and Life Line Baptist Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where his father was a pastor. In 1991, he formed a rap trio 213 with friends and fellow LBC residents Warren G and Snoop Dogg. Their demo found its way to Dr. Dre, who then enlisted all three members on his seminal debut The Chronic. Nate eventually signed with west coast powerhouse Death Row Records.

As a solo artist, Nate released three albums, including 1998's G-Funk Classics, Vols. 1 & 2, 2001's Music & Me and his self-titled 2003 release. He also reunited with Snoop Dogg and Warren G as 213 for 2004's The Hard Way. Nate established himself as a staple of west coast Hip Hop in his plethora of guest features, singing on classics like Warren G's "Regulate," Snoop Dogg's "Ain't No Fun" and Dr. Dre's "Xxplosive." He also leant his vocals to a number of charting-topping hits from a wide variety of Hip Hop's elite, including 2Pac, Eminem, Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, Ludacris, 50 Cent and many more.

BLVDAVE would like to extend our condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Nate Dogg. Rest In Peace big homie
