THE BEN BALLER EPISODE:

If you don't know, now you know !! I listen to the Combat Jack Radio Show via podcast every week, and I really enjoy what they do on there. They have a variety of guests on the show and its just a refreshing take on interviewing in my opinion. Heres a bit of info on the show creator : Attorney, author and radio personality Reggie Ossé is an established authority in all things urban entertainment. He is considered the first in today’s new wave of savvy attorneys well versed and nurtured in Urban, Hip Hop and Popular culture. He is the author of “Bling, The Hip Hop Jewelry Book”, a cultural anthropology coffee table book which provides an in depth and entertaining study of man’s fascination with jewelry spanning back to the birth of civilization.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

A group of interstellar outlaws team up to save the galaxy from a villain who seeks ultimate power in this comic book space adventure from Marvel Studios and director James Gunn (Slither, Super). Peter Quill was just a young boy when, devastated by his mother's death, he sprinted out of the hospital and was swept into the stars by Yondu (Michael Rooker), the leader of an eclectic band of space scavengers known as The Ravagers. Twenty-six years later, Quill has adopted the nickname Star Lord (Chris Pratt). He's broken away from The Ravagers in an attempt to track down an ancient orb that is also coveted by the evil Ronan (Lee Pace), who is in league with the dreaded Thanos, and who dispatches his top assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana) to retrieve it from Star Lord. In the process of doing so, Gamora also gets drawn into a fight with furry bounty hunter Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper) and his tree-like, humanoid companion Groot (voice of Vin Diesel). Subsequently thrown into prison, this unlikely quartet quickly makes the acquaintance of fearsome warrior Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), who seeks bitter revenge for the slaughter of his entire family at the hands of Ronan. In the process of making a daring prison break, Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax recover the orb, and transport it to The Collector (Benecio Del Toro), who reveals that it houses an Infinity Gem - one of six precious stones that harbors incredible powers that could pose a dire threat should they fall into the wrong hands. Later, Ronan acquires the Infinity Gem and plots to use its power to destroy The Nova Corps home-world of Xandar, The Guardians of the Galaxy must race through the stars to recover it before Ronan can carry out his genocidal plan.

Box office Results: 07/21/14

Alright we gonna get right into it,  here's the top 20 films at the box office right now !!!

20th Century Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes remained in first place for a second weekend in a row with $36 million. That was down about 50% from its opening weekend, which isn't great, but it isn't bad compared to some of the summer's other big sequels which fell much harder in their second weekend. So far, the sci-fi thriller directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) has grossed $139 million domestically after just ten days. Overseas, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes added $61 million for an international total of $103 million and worldwide total of $242 million.

Faring the best of the new releases, James DeMonaco's violent sequel to the 2013 surprise hit The Purge: Anarchy (Universal), starring Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Michael K. Williams and Zach Gilford, opened with $28.3 million in 2,805 theaters, approximately $10 thousand per location. While this was down from the $34.1 million opening of the original movie, the sequel was still made on a fairly modest $9 million budget, putting it already into the black just from its opening weekend. "Anarchy's" B CinemaScore isn't great but it's also better than the first movie and reviews were generally better as well. It's possible that the sequel can achieve the original movie's $64.5 million gross, although it does have a lot of competition in the coming weeks.

The second new sequel of the weekend was Planes: Fire & Rescue (Disney), featuring the voices of Dane Cook, Ed Harris, Julie Bowen and more, but it failed to open as well as the original with a third place opening of just $18 million in 3,826 theaters. The original Planes, originally meant as a Blu-ray/DVD-only release, grossed $90.3 million after a $22.2 million opening, although that amount may be tough even with very few family-friendly films opening in the coming weeks.

Despite having the biggest star power and reteaming two of the leads with the director of Sony's 2011 hit Bad Teacher, the R-rated comedy Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, failed to meet even the lowest projections with a weak opening of $15 million to take fourth place. It did make another $3 million from 9 international markets including Australia, New Zealand and others, but most of that money came from Australia.

Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg's global blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction (Paramount) added another $10 million domestically as it took fifth place for the weekend. With a four-week domestic gross of $227.2 million, the fourth "Transformers" movie is vying for the top movie of the summer domestically over X-Men: Days of Future Past (leveling off with a total gross of $230.5 million) but Disney's Maleficent may have something to say about that (See below). Internationally, the film added another $81.2 million to take its overseas total to $659.1 million. Worldwide, Transformers: Age of Extinction has earned $886.3 million so far.

Sixth place went to the Melissa McCarthy comedy vehicle Tammy (Warner Bros.) with $7.6 million, bringing its total to $71.3 million.

Continuing to be one of Sony's biggest hits of the summer, the Channing Tatum-Jonah Hill comedy police comedy 22 Jump Street dropped to seventh place with $4.7 million as it has reached $180.5 million to date.

Also dropping three places in its sixth weekend in the Top 10, DreamWorks Animation's animated sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2 took eighth place with $3.8 million and a relatively weak $160.7 million grossed domestically.

PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE
Adventure flies higher than ever before in this sequel that finds championship air-racer Dusty Crophopper (voice of Dane Cook) beginning an exciting new career fighting forest fires. In the wake of another successful racing season, Dusty returns home to Propwash Junction to resume his training. But a debilitating injury forces Rusty to consider a new career path. Before long Rusty is training with the Aerial Fire Fighters at Piston Peak Air Attack Base. Becoming a Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) is no simple task for an injured plane, but with the guidance of seasoned fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris), fearless leader of the Piston Peak Air Attack team, Rusty is soon soaring through the clouds once again. Meanwhile, as Rusty gets up to speed, his presence in the unit catches the attention of Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), a cargo hauler-turned-water scooper capable of skimming lake water to combat raging fires. A major racing fan, Dipper can hardly contain her excitement at the prospect of working alongside Rusty, and meanwhile wise, heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi) has never encountered a fire he couldn't conquer. In no time Rusty has made a whole host of new friends at Piston Peak, including hulking transport plane Cabbie (voice of Dale Dye), the brave grounded firefighters known as the Smokejumpers, the Secretary of the Interior (voice of Fred Willard), and Nick "Loop'n" Lopez (voice of Erik Estrada), a helicopter cop with an illustrious past. And though learning the secrets to dousing forest fires is sure to take time, Rusty is a fast learner, and eager to pitch in.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY
A vengeful father comes to the aid of a mother, her teenage daughter, and a defenseless young couple on the one night of the year that all crime, including murder, is legal in this self-contained sequel from producer Jason Blum and original Purge writer/director James DeMonaco. As the countdown to the Purge starts ticking, struggling waitress Eva (Carmen Ejogo) risks her safety by staying late at work to ask her boss for a raise. Later, as she returns home to her elderly father (John Beasely) and daughter Cali (Zoe Soul), bickering couple Shane (Zach Gilford) and Liz (Kiele Sanchez) attempt to make their way out of the city following a frightening run-in with a gang of masked, machete-wielding thugs. While these five people are eager to seek sanctuary from the impending wave of violence about to flood the streets, a lone stranger (Frank Grillo) intent on seeking vengeance for the wrongful death of his son plans to draw blood from the man responsible. Armed to the teeth as he cruises the city in a modified muscle car, he gets sidetracked from his mission when he sees Eva and Cali fighting for their lives against a small army of black-clad soldiers. Against his better judgment, he rescues the pair, only realizing later that Shane and Liz also jumped into his backseat in order to escape a gang that disabled their car and were hunting them through the streets. When the stranger's car is similarly damaged beyond the point of repair, this unlikely group must stick together in order to survive the night. But little do they realize that their nightmare has only just begun.
