Russell Westbrook Averages Triple-Double (Again); NBA Playoff Prediction...

On this ep, Gilbert Arenas and the #OutofBounds boys catch NBA playoff fever! But first, they discuss a curious cosmetic/medical trend that shows just how lost, vain, and celebrity-obsessed humanity is. With the 2017–18 NBA regular season in the books, OOB takes a closer look at the Eastern Conference matchups. Gil is intrigued by one in particular, but also throws water on the idea of another potential "upset" and dissects the sure-to-be-hyped LeBron-Lance Stephenson showdown. Plus, the guys make their picks for which team is coming out of the East. Before discussing the Western Conference playoffs, the team reacts to Russell Westbrook grabbing a career-high 20 rebounds last night to become the first player in NBA history to average a triple-double twice. A hand wave from one host leads to a heated defense of Brodie and his hustle. Plus, Gil explains why the triple-double average was MVP-worthy last season but not this one. Next, OOB breaks down the playoff matchups in the West, and Gil makes a case for the Spurs against the Warriors before throwing water on Pierce’s Rockets-T’wolves intrigue. As with the East, the crew shares their picks for the team that will make it to the Finals, then adds who they think is winning it all. Finally, in "Fair or Foul?" the guys weigh in on the Miami Marlins claiming foreign citizenship in the Caribbean to wiggle out of a lawsuit with local Miami and Miami-Dade governments. Everybody feels strongly about the story, but Gil's take is...something else. Following that up, the squad asks how new Marlins owner Derek Jeter is doing so far. Let's just say life isn't as charmed as it was in Yankees pinstripes.

Out Of Bounds: José Altuve Trump Death Stare, Ray Allen on Boston Beefs

The Hibachi is turned all the way up, so be careful not to burn yourself on his hot takes! Today on #OutofBounds, Gilbert Arenas and the guys react to the Houston Astros' White House visit, and specifically Jose Altuve's awesomely awkward meeting with President Trump. Will the AL MVP's headline-making, passive-aggressive shade thrown at the Donald start a trend of disapproving champions accepting invites so they can stare daggers at him? Plus, Gil has a suspect theory on what's behind Altuve's range of uncomfortable facial expressions. (Feel free to take your complaints up with him directly.) Next, the team discusses the NCAA excluding ref Ted Valentine from the tournament as punishment for turning his back on UNC's Joel Berry II earlier this season. Surprisingly, "TV Ted" has a defender on set, and the debate gets cooking. Then, with excerpts of Ray Allen's forthcoming book shedding light on Celtics beefs, OOB takes a look at what the future Hall of Famer has to say about Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo. What follows may be Gil's most ludicrous argument ever, but you decide if both he and Rondo are out their damn minds. Finally, after both Evan Turner and Richard Sherman responded to criticism of their contracts, the gang gets into pocket-watching in "Fair or Foul?" And, for all you sneaker heads, Gil breaks down sports contracts and ownership in terms of Yeezys, so you don't get these money moves twisted.

NBA "Where Are They Now?"

As we prepare to watch the 2012 NBA Finals, let's take a look again at those who paved the way for the players we watch today.

Here is BlvdAve's (@curtisshawflagg) Part II of

NBA: "Where Are They Now?"

Kevin Johnson

"K.J."

Kevin "K.J." Johnson among the fraternity of players that stayed with one team throughout the entirety of their careers. K.J. played a partial season for the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded and spending his entire career with the Phoenix Suns. This loyalty would be salutary later on in his career, but during his time playing for the Suns, he was arguably one the best point guards in the NBA. Finishing his career 7th All-Time in assists per game (9.1), and 18th in total assists (6711).

Kevin finished his career ranking among some of the NBA's most elite. He is one of only three players to have averaged at least 20pts and 12asts in a season (Isiah ThomasMagic Johnson), at least 20-10 in three consecutive seasons (Oscar RobertsonIsiah Thomas). He also holds the NBA record for most minutes played in a Finals game, logging 62 minutes against the Chicago Bulls in the 1993 NBA Finals.
Kevin Johnson retired with the Phoenix Suns during the 1997-98 season. He returned to the Suns as Jason Kidd's replacement during the 1999-00  season for a playoff run. Phoenix lost to the Lakers in the second round. After that season Johnson retired for the final time.
Since retirement from his 13 year career in the NBA, he started and founded the Kevin Johnson Corporation, specializing in real estate development and management. Through that company he opened the St. HOPE academy in 1989. He served as its CEO until 2008, amid allegations that it did not spend AmeriCorps grant and educational award money appropriately.

During that same time, Kevin returned to his home of Sacramento, California to run for mayor. He challenged incumbent mayor Heather Fargo and won after a runoff election. He received 57.4% of the votes. Kevin still resides as the active mayor of Sacramento. He recently wed his wife Michelle Rhee, former Chancellor of the District of Columbia school system.

Hakeem Olajuwon

"The Dream"
Life-time Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon took what he could get during the Jordan-era. Winning back-to-back NBA Championships in between the Bulls double 3-peat championships and amidst the retirement of Michael Jordan. This after the first of three Bulls titles and after the brutal murder of Michael's father, James Jordan.

Hakeem and the 1994-1995 Houston Rockets shifted dominance in the NBA to the West, defeating the New York Knicks in seven games (Olajuwon averaged 27ppg, 9.4rpg, 4.2bpg) in 94' and swept the Orlando Magic (Olajuwon averaged 32.8ppg, 11.5rpg, 5apg, 2bpg) the very next season.

Olajuwon revolutionized the center position. His agility, knowledge of proper pivot skills, and one the most lethal head fakes in NBA history combined for what was coined "The Dream Shake". This move consisted of a quick dribble drive, followed by a fake layup, counterclockwise pivot spin, shot fake and up-and-under finish. Olajuwon performed this to absolute perfection.

What extended far beyond his stellar on the court performance, was his involvement in charitable endeavors off the court. Olajuwon was one of the first players in the modern shoe marketing era to endorse a brand (Spaulding) that wasn't considered a "top" shoe brand due to prices of other brands such as Nike, Reebok, and Adidas. The shoe retailed for $35, a far cry from the $120 shoes Jordan and other players were marketing. When asked about why, Olajuwon stated,
"How can a poor working mother with three boys buy Nikes or Reeboks that cost $120?...She can't. So kids steal these shoes from stores and from other kids. Sometimes they kill for them."
After retirement from a near 20 year career in the NBA and college ranks, Hakeem spends most of time in Jordan where he practices his Islamic faith. He began observing this religion during the 1991 season, assuming the nameHa-keem instead of Akeem.

Beyond that he assumes various endeavors from real estate, to being one of the most sought out training guru at his annual "Big Man Camp" to the current crop of NBA stars. Most notably and recently LeBron JamesKobe BryantAndrew BynumYao MingEmeka Okafor, and Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah plans to train over this summer with the Hall of Famer.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame with the class of 2008.

Bernard King

"B"
Just shy of making the "NBA's 50 Greatest Players" list, Bernard King had a historic impact on the NBA during his 14 year career. Drafted by the New Jersey Nets 7th overall out of the University of Tennessee, King immediately produced for the Nets, during his rookie season he set the franchise record for points by a rookie (1,909) and made 1st team NBA All-Rookie.

He would go on to average 22.8ppg during his two years in New Jersey, and was then traded to the Utah Jazz briefly before being traded to the Knicks forMichael Ray Richardson and a 5th round draft pick in 1984.

King would spend some his formidable seasons in New York, averaging over 26ppg during his 4 seasons with the Knicks, one of which include a 32.9ppg campaign in 1984-85. He lead the league in scoring that season but ultimately fell short in the MVP voting to Larry Bird, as King's Knicks were a Eastern Conference Atlantic worst 24-58, despite King's scoring heroics.

King suffered a tragic injury during the height of his career. During the 1985-86 season, he tore his ACL during a game against the Kansas City Kings. He would end up missing two seasons rehabbing the injury. King attempted a noble comeback, making the 1991 All-Star Game, Bernard averaged 28.4ppg, 4apg, and 5rpg. After the 91' season, King reinjured that same knee while playing for the New Jersey Nets. He was forced into retirement in 1993.

King now runs Bernard King and Thompson Energy Solutions, LLC. BKTEC is an energy venture, which helps companies improve efficiency. Bernard started the company with close friend Rickey Thompson in 2007. He still enjoys watching NBA games, as he looks to keep his Christmas Day scoring record of 60 points in Madison Square Garden.

Shawn Kemp

"The Reign Man"

In the wake of the Oklahoma City Thunder reaching the NBA Finals, Shawn Kemp may have been the franchise's first true marketable star. Kemp was drafted in 1989 by the Seattle Supersonics with the 17th overall pick. He was a super standout in the Indiana area, considered one the top 5 players in the nation, he lead Concordia High School to a state championship victory in his senior year.

Kemp initially signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Kentucky, however an issue involving a stolen goldchain from teammate and son of UK Head Coach Eddie Sutton - Sean Sutton - forced Kemp to enroll at the Trinity Valley Community College in Texas. After just one semester Kemp declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. Trouble would follow Shawn throughout his career.

Kemp arrived to a competitive Sonics team that just came off of a Western Conference Semifinal loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kemp came in as the youngest player in the NBA at age 20. His first couple seasons were difficult, as he struggled to adjust to the NBA (6ppg/4rpg, 15ppg/8rpg, 15ppg/10rpg first 3 seasons). However -with the tutelage of All-Star and former All-Rookie Xavier McDaniel - Kemp emerged in his third season to average 17.8ppg, 10.7rpg and almost 2 blocks a game (1.9).

Shawn finally got it. And more importantly he found a way to add his flair and aggressive post skills to the forefront. Shawn Kemp was Blake Griffin before the Mozgov craze came about. His dunk exploits intimidated teams and was often strategically defended around. He earned commercial success donning the moniker "Reign Man", and appeared on MTV's Rock n' Jock celebrity basketball game. Casting the small market franchise into a reputable spotlight as a green light city for stars to play.

Shawn Kemp was the blueprint for Blake Griffin, (check the :58 second mark)

As the 80's came to a close and the 90's rang in, contract sizes increased with every new year. Despite working to become an All-Star and team leader, Kemp was earning a "max-contract" that was far less than his fellow stars. After requesting a reworking of his contract to reflect that of players more his caliber, Shawn was met with reluctance by the Seattle front office. Kemp was eventually traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a blockbuster deal that included Vin BakerTerrelle BrandonTyrone HillPat Garrity, and Sherman Douglas.

Kemp arrived to Cleveland virtually unrecognizable. He started training camp registering at over 300lbs, clearly overweight and out-of-shape. Despite packing on the pounds, Shawn managed to have his best scoring seasons of his career ( averaging 20.5ppg, 9.2rpg) in 42 games of play. Kemp would go on to have another productive season in Cleveland before being shipped to the Portland Trailblazers in a three-team trade.

Unfortunately, his final years in the NBA were plagued with drug abuse, alcoholism and more weight issues. He was waived before the 2003 season before signing as a free agent with the Orlando Magic to aid the loss of Grant Hill. Kemp averaged 6.8ppg (7.6ppg as a starter) and 5.7rpg (6.4 as starter) before being replaced by Juwan Howard following the 03' season.

Since his exit from the NBA Kemp has seen his fair share of legal problems, arrested in 2005 for cocaine, marijuana and gun possession. He was again arrested in 2006 for marijuana possession. In lieu of the legal trouble, he managed sign a contract with the Italian League for one year. Said to be back to great shape, Kemp played for a brief three preseason games before coming to the United States after Hurricane Ike damaged his home.

He now enjoys time watching his son - Shawn Kemp Jr. - play for the University of Washington. Kemp Jr. is now in his sophomore season with the Huskies.

NBA 2011 All Star Game recap:

Here's a recap of the NBA 2011 All-Star game courtesy of ESPN.com :

We haven't had a Kobe versus LeBron battle in June yet, but we got a preview of what it might look like here in February. The West's wild 148-143 win in the 2011 All-Star Game at Staples Center -- the highest-scoring regulation game in history provided a harbinger of how exciting such a showdown might be as each dominated long stretches of the game.

And that's where the fun begins. Because when you look past all the spectacle of the NBA All-Star Game, the really interesting part is when it gets a little nitty-gritty. Combining the Kobe-LeBron battle with the close finish, and spiking it with lingering Lakers-Celtics bitterness and the Staples Center location, all the necessary ingredients were there.

More on the L.A.-Boston animus in a bit, but let's start with the finish. There were only two players apiece on the court from Los Angeles and Miami during the stretch run, but it turned into a Lakers-Heat battle anyway with the final score serving as a sort of proxy war for the MVP honors between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. And unlike most years, the crowd had a genuine preference, pulling for the West enough that at times it felt like a "road" game for the East.

Bryant ultimately prevailed, with game highs of 37 points and 14 rebounds. But not before James almost single-handedly brought the East back from a 17-point deficit with a series of full-speed end-to-end bursts that ended with him hurtling toward the basket and drawing fouls, scoring or both. James had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the fourth quarter alone, bringing his side within two before Kevin Durant quashed the rally with back-to-back jumpers.

James finished with only the second triple-double in All-Star Game history with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists; Michael Jordan was the first. Unfortunately, his lone error in the stretch run may have been the costliest -- down four with 45 seconds left, he passed up an open 3-pointer to kick the ball to Miami teammate Chris Bosh, who missed a wild 3 of his own that effectively ended the East's rally.

However, within the East comeback lay another interesting subplot the dogs-and-cats-playing-with-each-other aspect of four Celtics on the bench cheering enthusiastically as LeBron blew up in the fourth quarter. Leading the charge was Kevin Garnett, who was up off the bench making typical maniacal Garnett faces, pointing out defensive coverages and generally cheerleading.

"That's just KG," said East coach and Boston coach Doc Rivers. "He wanted to win. You don't really know how guys are going to interchange ... but it's really neat trying to adjust what the people interact and I think you do learn a little bit about different guys."

"Actually we all got into a fight in the locker room before the game, arguing and stuff," cracked Paul Pierce. "What did you want us to do? We're on the same team. It's the All-Star Game."

Rivers also did his Miami rivals a favor by immediately calling a timeout when Dwyane Wade came up hobbling after stepping on Deron Williams' foot. Wade, who had been troubled by his right ankle in recent games and reinjured it on the play, didn't return but said he could have if it had been the regular season.

Although the four Celtics -- Pierce, Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen were bit players in the game itself, they were front and center at the start. At times it felt that we were back for Game 8 of the 2010 NBA Finals. L.A. fans heartily booed the Boston foursome in introductions, although they saved their worst vitriol for Miami's LeBron James. When four Celtics checked into the game for the East late in the first quarter, at the same time Bryant and Gasol were on the floor for the West, it seemed the L.A.-Boston subplot would rule the day. On cue, the crowd cheered when Pierce and Allen each air-balled jumpers.

"You knew they would not get a rousing ovation," said Rivers. "I think our guys expected it. [They] got a good laugh out of it."

Kobe Bryant avoided the Chasedown King this time.
Of course, it wasn't just the Lakers, Heat and Celtics out there. Kevin Durant made two game-icing free throws with 5.2 seconds left allowing Bryant to leave to a huge ovation from the Staples Center crowd and finished with 34 points. And the East's surge got a major boost from Amare Stoudemire, who scored 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter. Interestingly, Stoudemire was matched up against potential future teammate Carmelo Anthony to start the game. However, neither made a huge impact until Amare's late burst.

Nonetheless, the story of this one was Kobe doing just enough early to offset LeBron late. Bryant exploded early with a 21-point first half, going retro on a baseline drive that led to a twisting reverse jam and later, to the delight of the locals, dunking on James.

"I wanted to see if I could avoid the LeBron chase-down," said Bryant. "So I just tried to be quick ... I kind of snuck it by him."

Bryant achieved his point total by playing, how can we say this ... aggressively. Especially in the first half, he stopped the ball to look for his shot every time he caught it. Bryant admitted he knew coming in what the record was for points in the game (42 by Wilt Chamberlain in 1961) and had hopes of breaking it before the home crowd until he ran out of gas down the stretch.

"He wanted to get the MVP," said Stoudemire. "He was not passing the ball, at all. But that's Kobe."

You could tell it was Bryant's night when he missed a free throw midway through the fourth quarter and it bounced straight back to him off the back rim, leaving an open 15-foot jumper that he drained easily. It was one of his few jumpers, as Bryant showed shades of his game as a much younger player by making repeated forays to the rim. Eleven of his 14 field goals came from inside five feet.

However, the fortuitous bounce off the free throw provided his only points in the final stanza. It was his teammate Gasol who helped hold off the East's charge, blocking a Derrick Rose shot at one end and tipping in a Bryant miss at the other to seal the win after Durant's jumpers had provided some breathing room. For his efforts in preserving Bryant's MVP trophy, Gasol got to spend 10 minutes on the podium with Bryant without being asked a single question.

It was also Bryant's record-setting fourth All-Star Game MVP award, tying the mark held by former Hawks big man Bob Pettit.

"He played great," James said. "He definitely deserved it."

Whether he would also prevail in a June matchup remains purely a matter of conjecture. Maybe, just maybe, this is the year we'll find out.

here's the "Black Mamba" himself after winning MVP:

New York the Victor in trade battle to acquire Carmelo Anthony

Couple days late posting this but whatever lol.

The Denver Nuggets have finally completed their long-awaited trade to send Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks.

The Knicks are sending Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, the Knicks’ 2014 first-round pick, two second-round picks New York acquired from the Golden State Warriors in the David Lee sign-and-trade and $3 million. The Knicks will also trade Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who will send Corey Brewer to the Nuggets. The Knicks will receive Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Renaldo Balkman.
The Nuggets requested on Saturday that the Knicks also include center Timofey Mozgov in their trade package and New York complied.

“I’m extremely happy for ‘Melo,” said Anthony’s agent, Leon Rose. “We are very appreciative to the Denver Nuggets organization for their efforts in assisting ‘Melo to get to New York. ‘Melo is excited and looking forward to playing for the Knicks.”

The Nuggets want to reroute two Knicks to the New Jersey Nets as part of a separate deal, including Felton and Mozgov, sources said. The Nets badly want to get rid of Devin Harris and have discussed a three-team with Denver and Dallas that would send Harris to the Mavericks, and bring Felton and Mozgov to New Jersey, sources said.

The Nets are considering sending Harris and Troy Murphy to Portland for Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla, but sources say that deal’s on the backburner. New Jersey would prefer Felton over Miller, sources say.

Nuggets president Josh Kroenke and general manager Masai Ujiri had initially preferred the Nets’ offer for Anthony, which was built around rookie forward Derrick Favors and four first-round draft picks, but Anthony was unwilling to commit to signing a contract extension with the Nets.

Nuggets coach George Karl had pushed team officials to make the deal with the Knicks over a straight trade with the Nets because it would better position the Nuggets to contend for the playoffs this season, a source with knowledge of Denver’s plans said.

Congrats to Melo for making the move back home ! But you woulda got a Championship with the BULLS sooner !!! lol

Peace to www.sneakerfiles.com for the info on this sneaker ! I dont really see where the "Entourage" theme comes from but what do yall think ? HOT OR NOT ???

Last week Nike introduced yet another LeBron 8 model, the Nike LeBron 8 P.S but today we have detailed images of the second model, the Nike LeBron 8 V/2. Inspired by the HBO series Entourage, this Nike LeBron 8 is dressed in an all blue upper, with black appearing on the laces, midsole as a yellow is used as accents throughout the shoe.
