Sneaks on the Ave: Jordan Brand unveils some of its summer 2012 Retro releases

Is 2012 shaping up to be even better than 2011? The Summer 2012 season alone is enough argument to make that case. In addition to the Air Jordan XI Low in White/Black/Red as well as the Air Jordan XII 'Cool Grey', Jordan Brand will re-release the Air Jordan IV 'Military', Air Jordan XII 'Playoffs', and Air Jordan XII 'Obsidian'. The upcoming Retros of the  Military IV and Playoff XII will mark the third overall release for each shoe, while the Obsidian Mids will be the first ever re-release for that shoe (quick trivia: Name the un-retroed OG Air Jordans II-XIV). Props to SneakerNews !!! Over the weekend they gave you a look at the Air Jordan XII 'Cool Grey', which is currently set for a May 2012 release. Here we have a new angle of the upcoming release, which reveals a Team Orange detail on the 'Jumpman' badge located on the upper by the midfoot. The 'Cool Grey' upper appears to be constructed of nubuck, similar to the Air Jordan XII 'Flu Game' release. The combination of Grey/White/Orange is very much a Charlotte Bobcats colorway, seen on PEs worn by Gerald Wallace and DJ Augustin. Are these one of the best non-OG Air Jordan XII colorways ever? Sneaks on the AVE: Air Jordan IV DB Superman

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Michael Jordan dunking on you and winning championships. Michael Jordan's superhuman feats on the court are well represented by this year's Air Jordan IV 'Doernbecher', which serves as the unofficial 'kick-off' to the looming Air Jordan IV Retro releases for 2012.

The Air Jordan IV DB 'Superman' features a number of playful colors and details, like the Superman chest logo on the tongue, a comic-book like graphic seen through the translucent outsoles, neon green and blue tones, and most notably, a new 'Mars Blackmon' silhouette on the heel, which matches that of Isaiah, the talented young boy who was chosen to design the Air Jordan IV.

 The entire Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle VIII will be unveiled on October 8th, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates and release information for this charity-driven capsule of sneakers, and let us know what you think of Isaiah's design.

Sneakerheads have wanted to be like Mike for a quarter-century now, but in the last few months, we've noticed a growing sentiment to look like Spike. We're not talking about the Brooklyn auteur's smart tortoiseshell glasses, however spiffy, but rather the fact that upon our first viewing of these New York-inspired Jordan Spiz'ikes, only the biggest Knicks fan had both colorways of what appeared to be something of a 'PE' for his namesake hybrid.
