New tv show: Love and Hip Hop

'Love & Hip Hop' also stars former G-Unit(50 Cent) first lady Olivia ("Candy Shop," "Best Friend (Remix") and the girlfriends of rappers including Fabolous and Jim Jones.

"Love & Hip Hop provides a dramatic, funny and sometimes heartbreaking look into the female side of the New York hip hop life as these four women try to claim their own place in it," reports VH1. "Chrissy Lampkin, girlfriend to hip hop star Jim Jones, and Emily Bustamante, girlfriend to rapper Fabolous, are waiting for their men to put a ring on it; however, both men suffer from a severe case of commitment phobia. Olivia Longott, the former first lady of G Unit, is done living in the shadows and is determined to make it on her own as a solo artist. Like Olivia, Somaya “Boss” Reece, a tall, sexy Latina, also has a fierce determination to launch her rap career and become a household name in the music industry."

Activision Says Goodbye To Guitar Hero / DJ Hero Franchise

Guitar Hero franchise to come to an end due to loss of profits and declining music genre.

In what came as quite the shock to many Activision announced in an earnings report which was released earlier this week that they will no longer continue with their Guitar Hero franchise.

The company stated that a decline in music was their primary reason for axing the franchise which also consisted of the popular DJ Hero games.

"Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011," said Activision in their fourth quarter earnings report. "These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world's best interactive entertainment experiences."

The chief of Activision, Eric Hirschberg, revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that the company “simply cannot make these games profitable based on current market and demands."

Due to the loss of the Guitar and DJ Hero franchises, as many as 500 jobs will likely be lost. During its peak, DJ Hero incorporated dozens of iconic Hip Hop personalities including the late DJ AM, RZA and Grandmaster Flash. In 2009, a special "Renegade Edition" of DJ Hero was released featuring both Eminem and Jay-Z.

The first Guitar Hero game was released in 2005 and since that time there have been numerous Guitar Hero releases. And in the last two years the franchise also released both Band Hero and DJ Hero.

"Tupac" will begin shooting sometime this spring/summer !!!!

shout out to www.hiphopdx.com for the news

Thursday, Morgan Creek Pictures announced filming of the movie Tupac will begin shooting sometime between late spring and early summer. No lead actor has been announced to play the role of Tupac Shakur, and a majority of the casting is still underway.

Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua will direct the biopic, while 2Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, serves as executive producer. Former Ruthless Records A&R, L.T. Hutton, who similarly spent time at Death Row Records will also serve as a producer. Hutton’s Program Pictures works in conjunction with Morgan Creek. In 2009, Shakur and Morgan Creek were involved in a $10 million lawsuit over the rights to the biopic, but it appears both parties have since worked out their respective differences.

“I am confident that Morgan Creek will stay true to the common goal we share of depicting Tupac’s life in a way that will allow the world to see the authenticity of his artistry, his hopes, and his life goals,” Shakur said in a released statement.

There is currently no scheduled release date for Tupac, but sources at Morgan Creek stated the film will be shot on location in Los Angeles, New York, Georgia and Las Vegas and will follow the life and legacy of Shakur, who was murdered in 1996.

Ciara dropped from Jive Records ???

PROPS to www.Concreteloop.com for the news,
Word on the street is that pop/R&B singer Ciara has been dropped from Jive Records after struggling with album sales for her fourth studio album ‘Basic Instinct’, which has sold between 40,000 and 50,000 so since its debut in December 2010. Apparently her single “Turn It Up” featuring Usher was scheduled to hit the radio airwaves on March 8th but was later pulled for some reason:
Reports are now beginning to surface that Jive finally pulled the plug on Ciara. Insiders say the singer is a drain on label resources because she does not know her artistry and is unable to pin down a unique sound. One insider said that “the label would rather invest in someone like Chris Brown who is proving successful on multiple formats”…Ciara and Jive executives are said to have reached mutual terms to end their partnership, effective immediately.
On the other hand, it is also rumored that she has been visiting the Universal Records offices and may be in talks with Interscope Records about a possible deal…
