Gaming News: Gamespot Reviews Battlefield 3

Title is Available on Xbox 360 & PS3 as well

When it comes to virtual battlefields, nobody does it quite like the Battlefield series. It has a long history of creating sprawling conflict zones where players have an exhilarating range of ways to make powerful contributions to the war effort. The competitive multiplayer mode in Battlefield 3 stays true to tradition, delivering an online combat experience that is amazingly addictive, immersive, and exciting, with refinements and new elements that make the familiar action feel fresh. Unfortunately, the stale single-player campaign fails to capitalize on the strengths of the series and feels like an off-brand imitation. The six cooperative missions fare better and offer a tougher challenge, but only the competitive multiplayer provides a compelling reason to buy Battlefield 3. With online battles this excellent, though, that reason is all you need.

Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield ‘Rivalry Pack’ – Army + Navy

The competitive nature among the divisions of the United States Armed Forces represents itself quite well on the college football field, as the Army/Navy rivalry is as strained and heated as some of the most noted match-ups in history. The Army/Navy game dates back to 1890 and is commonly played in Philadelphia (somewhat of a neutral ground considering the city is roughly equidistant to both academies), and is now played during the second weekend of December - the final game of the season for both teams.
The 112th annual Army/Navy Game will be held on Saturday, December 12th, but preceding that historic bout will be the release of the Army and Navy editions of the Nike Trainer 1.3 Mid Shield 'Rivalry Pack'; both versions represent the academy colors perfectly, with both pairs featuring special graphics on the heel. The Army utilizes a tonal beige colorway with the signature Army typefont on the heel, while the Navy uses a dark blue digi-camo with flag badges - both accurate depictions of each respective division.

Expect both to hit Nikestore on December 9th at a price of $115 (and be quick with your draw because these will clear out fast).

Gaming News: Gamespot Reviews BatMan: Arkham City

This title is also available on PS3 and PC

Gotham City. This crime-infested metropolis has been famously imagined and reimagined in comic books, cartoons, and films. Now, we have a new vision of Gotham, and it stands not just as one of the most unforgettable incarnations ever of the city that Batman is devoted to protecting, but as one of the most richly detailed and exciting environments ever seen in a game. Building on 2009's outstanding Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City sets you free in the intoxicating neighborhood of North Gotham, now a sealed-off superprison for the city's worst criminals. As the Caped Crusader, you struggle to bring some semblance of order to the chaotic streets, foiling the plots of supervillains and protecting the victims of those who prey on the innocent. With its atmospheric setting, thrilling movement, immensely satisfying combat, and tremendous assortment of secrets to discover, side quests to complete, and other attractions, Arkham City is a fantastic adventure game.

Sneaks on the Ave: Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski

To suggest that the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski does well with two-toned colorways adn a white vulc sole is a gross understatement.  Janoskis come in a range of variants these days, but you can always count on the application of a simple new colorway to demonstrate how much a great silhouette can do with so few colors.  The latest is a tonal brown suede combination of Umber and Boulder whose piping seems especially seamless with embroidered Swooshes streaking across the side panels in the same shade.  They're a great go-to design if you need a versatile shoe on any but the sloppiest of winter days, and you'll find them available now at select Nike SB stores including Flatspot.

Sneaks on the AVE: Nike Air Max JR ‘Cincinnati Reds’

The recent release of the have taken an unofficial formulaic approach of tonal colorways attributed to the teams that played for. The last tonal-black pair we showed you was dubbed the 'White Sox', although Jr.'s time with the South Side was rather short. Here's another look at the Tonal Red 'Cincinnati Reds' colorway - one we showed you back in March; it features a sinister Varsity Red covering the entire shoe with a white swoosh on the the toe as well as on accents on the lace-hoops. If the tonal team theme continues, how awesome would an all-Freshwater pair of JRs be? Check out the additional shots of this November 2011 release below and let us know what you think.

Gaming News: Gamespot Reviews Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One

It's all a matter of perspective. When you compare All 4 One to previous Ratchet & Clank games, you might think the biggest change is the addition of a cooperative mode. But given that you could team up in Ratchet: Deadlocked, that isn't quite true. Rather, a zoomed-out, fixed-angle camera is the biggest differentiator. You no longer view battles up close and personal with direct control over where your bullets fly. And this shift in how you look at and interact with the world makes the shooting portion of this space-faring adventure its weakest aspect. Thankfully, thoughtful puzzles and exciting vehicle sequences partially fill the void left by the so-so combat, and the inherent delight of joining forces with your friends ensures you're continually having fun. This may not be the Ratchet you've grown accustomed to, but whimsical charm and wacky hijinks make this another solid entry in the long-running franchise

Is 2012 shaping up to be even better than 2011? The Summer 2012 season alone is enough argument to make that case. The upcoming Retros of the  Military IV and Playoff XII will mark the third overall release for each shoe, while the Obsidian Mids will be the first ever re-release for that shoe (quick trivia: Name the un-retroed OG Air Jordans II-XIV). Gaming News: Gamespot Reviews Crysis

Originally released on the PC, this title has been re-released for PS3 & Xbox 360

Any discussion of 2007's PC shooter Crysis inevitably turns to its graphics. It was--is--a beautiful game, boasting incredible technology that makes it one of the most lifelike adventures to date. For some, its excellence as a shooter is secondary, which is too bad: Crysis is a fun and challenging game that doesn't rely on its technological wonders to make an impact. Now, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners get to experience these wonders for themselves, and they should be pleased to learn that the game holds up well, due in part to some interface tweaks pulled directly from Crysis 2. The console Crysis isn't as beautiful as the PC original, or even this year's sequel, which may be why its flaws seem more readily apparent than before. Don't take that to mean that Crysis isn't a looker, though: It's absolutely attractive on its new platforms. More importantly, shooting humans and aliens amid lush jungle foliage and frigid ravines is as entertaining as ever.

Sneaks on the AVE: Nike Basketball Holiday 2011 PE Pack

As we approach the end of October, NBA Basketball, despite still being a big question mark, is still on our minds. The recent South Florida All-Star Classic reminded us why NBA basketball is the most exciting professional sport to watch, and even the super-realistic NBA 2K12 video game has given us more reason that the 2011-12 NBA Season is worth the wait. Need even more of an NBA fix? Nike Las Vegas just dropped a whole set of Nike Basketball PEs, like the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 for Russell Westbrook, the Nike Air Max Sweep Thru for Amare Stoudemire, and the for Chris Bosh. Check out all of what's available right now and check with your NikeTown soon for availability.

Gaming News: Gamespot Reviews Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

This title is also available on Xbox 360

Be careful what you wish for. Since Dead Rising's release in 2006, players have been clamoring for a sandbox mode. In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, you finally have a chance to tear through Fortune City without a leash pulling you through, and it's now clear why such an option was absent in the past. It's boring. Finicky controls and shallow combat have been a part of the series since the beginning, but it was possible to look past these problems because you were constantly pushed from one ticking objective to the next. Once the handcuffs are removed in Off the Record, these quirks become more apparent, and it only takes so long before the thrill of killing zombies dissipates. Story mode isn't much of a draw for series veterans, either, because it's virtually an identical retread of Dead Rising 2. For people who have never touched a Dead Rising game before, Off the Record is as good a place to start as any, but it's far too similar to the previous game to make it exciting for longtime fans or those who have never had interest in these wacky adventures.

Props to SneakerNews !!! Over the weekend they gave you a look at the Air Jordan XII 'Cool Grey', which is currently set for a May 2012 release. Here we have a new angle of the upcoming release, which reveals a Team Orange detail on the 'Jumpman' badge located on the upper by the midfoot. The 'Cool Grey' upper appears to be constructed of nubuck, similar to the 'Flu Game' release. The combination of Grey/White/Orange is very much a Charlotte Bobcats colorway, seen on PEs worn by Gerald Wallace and DJ Augustin. Are these one of the best non-OG colorways ever? Check out the extra shot below and let us know where these rank among all releases of all-time.

Nike LeBron 9
White/White-Black-Sport Red (Home/Scarface)
469764-100
11/04/11
$170

Last year's Miami inspired colorways for the Nike LeBron 8 like the 'South Beach' and 'Miami Nights' were the clear kings of the hill for must haves, so will King James' latest signature shoe have a similar fate? With the Nike LeBron 9 finally starting to pop up on a slew of exciting colorways, this pair fuses the standard Miami Heat colors with a bit more sinister inspiration; the iconic imagery of the classic gangster film Scarface.

The stark combo of black and white mixes in swaths of red that make the inspiration clear. Let us know how these line up against the other 's we've seen so far and stay tuned for more info on the 'Scarfaces'.

Sneaks on the Ave: Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro

Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro

If we've learned anything from Nike's Fall/Winter 2011 collection, it's that the brand is dead set on extending the aesthetics of outerwear well beyond the Nike ACG range. From beefed up Duckboot Air Force 1's to Sky Force '88s sporting d-ring lacing, it is abundantly clear that every division of the Swoosh will have the proper footwear for the coming months. The iteration for Nike SB is the Nike SB Dunk Mid 'Patagonia' that we've been patiently waiting for, which sports a mixture of earthy tones paired with metal eyelets and the classic hunter red laces. We've got some high quality pics after the jump to tide you over until their rumored December release, courtesy of aggi on N-SB.
